Virunga National Park Safari
You will have the opportunity to take in the varied scenery and scenic splendor of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on this 4-day safari that includes gorilla and chimpanzee trekking. You will travel to the eastern part of the Congo to explore Virunga National Park, one of Africa’s oldest national parks. Mountain gorillas, which are in risk of extinction, and chimpanzees can both be found in the park.
Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to DR Congo from the international airport Kigali
A tour guide from Adventure in the Wild Safaris will meet you at the Kigali international airport and drive you to Gisenyi town, one of the biggest towns along the beaches of Lake Kivu. You will have a boat ride on Lake Kivu in the afternoon while observing the Nyiragongo volcano, and then you will be transferred to Virunga National Park. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Virunga
Your safari guide will transport you to the Bukima police station for a gorilla trekking briefing after eating breakfast in the morning. After having a briefing, you will enter the jungle to start the adventure of searching for the threatened mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The hike could take you anywhere from 2 to 5 hours, or even longer based on where the mountain gorillas are as they prefer high-altitude surroundings. Spend an hour observing the gorillas feeding their young, eating, and engaging in other daily routines while taking pictures of them. This will be an adventure of a lifetime. Stroll returning to the Bukima police station afterward, where you can meet your driver for a ride back to your resort for dinner and the night.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking
You will get up early, eat breakfast, and then be taken at 6:00 am to Mahura Forest to observe chimpanzees. Upon locating these amazing creatures, you will spend one hour with them and get to learn how they spend their days. Then return to your accommodations to relax. Meal and the night.

Day 4: Travel back to Kigali
You’ll get up at leisure, eat an excellent breakfast, and then head back to Kigali. On the way you will go on a city tour of Kigali and as well visit the genocide memorial site and Kaplaki crafts village, which contains a variety of handicrafts. Our driver will then transport you to the airport in time for your departure.
